Paolucci 37.2

Note: Stahl does not record a definitive name associated with a mintmaster initial of I. I suspect it is Jacopo Contarini as the mintmaster mark is normally the initial of the first name and Jacopo (spelled as Iacopo if Latinized) would be the only listed candidate during the reign of Antonio Venier and would also fall exactly at the end of the production of the type two grosso.

Paolucci 37.2

Note: Stahl does not record a name associated with a mintmaster initial of R and I cannot determine any in the date range of 1382-1400 which would support a hypothesis for using an R. Perhaps an engraver error?

Notes from Paolucci: "On 11th January 1568 the Consiglio dei Dieci resolved on the issue of pieces of 'quattro carci' (four carzie) intended for Cyprus. No sources are known that would shed light on the striking of two other new coins for Pietro Loredan: a quarter-zecchino and a new type of soldino with a lily cross replacing that first struck by Pietro Lando. There also exist two types of soldini with the figure of the doge in armor which are almost certainly patterns."
